Priyanka & Kartik's JW Marriott Wedding Story
Every wedding is a unique love story, and our job as planners is to bring that story to life. For Priyanka and Kartik, it was a beautiful blend of their modern sensibilities and deep-rooted traditions. Their wedding was a perfect reflection of them—a seamless fusion of contemporary elegance and timeless South Indian culture. It was a privilege to be a part of their journey, and today, we're taking you behind the scenes of how we turned their dream into a magnificent reality at the JW Marriott Bengaluru.
Part 1: The Couple & The Initial Vision
Priyanka, an architect with a passion for art, and Kartik, a fun-loving businessman, came to us with a clear vision: a wedding that was both tasteful and personal. They had a beautiful and unconventional love story—meeting through family friends and having a spontaneous, starry-night proposal. This sense of serendipity and their complementary personalities became the foundation for our design.
Their core request was to honor their South Indian heritage while creating an event that felt distinctly modern. They wanted a celebration that was not just about rituals, but about their love story. It was this initial conversation that set us on a creative path to design a wedding that was truly and uniquely theirs.
Part 2: The Poonam Mayank Sharma Approach
Our process always begins with listening. We spent countless hours with Priyanka and Kartik, getting to know their tastes, their family dynamics, and the little details that mattered most to them. We believe the decor should tell a story, and for this, we needed to truly understand the characters.
The JW Marriott Bengaluru was the perfect canvas. The couple chose it for its beautiful outdoor lawn with a waterfall, which provided a serene and natural backdrop for the traditional muhurtham. The elegant indoor ballroom, on the other hand, was an ideal space for a grand reception. This duality in the venue allowed us to perfectly execute their desire for a blend of traditional and contemporary themes.
For the main ceremony, we opted for a traditional yet fresh color palette of pastel pink and teal. This was a deliberate choice to move away from the usual reds and golds, giving the event a soft, dream-like quality.
Part 3: A Spotlight on the Unique Details
This is where the magic happened. Every element was carefully planned to reflect their personalities and the overall theme.
The Mandap: The centerpiece of the wedding was the circular mandap. We designed a crisscross pattern on the roof using strips of pink and teal fabrics. The structure was beautifully adorned with traditional South Indian lamps, antique brass lotuses, and elegant bells hanging from the roof. This fusion of geometric design with classic motifs created a breathtaking and truly one-of-a-kind setting.
Personalization is Key: We knew the details would make this wedding unforgettable. For the photobooth, we created life-size letters of their initials with a backdrop of shimmery paper roses, a perfect reflection of Priyanka's love for art. The bride, Priyanka, also honored her family’s legacy by incorporating her mother’s 30-year-old golden braid into her bridal look, a truly beautiful and sentimental touch.
The Reception: After the traditional ceremonies, the mood shifted. We transformed the JW Marriott ballroom into a "French theme" wonderland. The decor featured wooden frames, enchanting fairy lights, and hanging glass bowls, creating a sophisticated and romantic ambiance that was a stunning contrast to the daytime wedding.
Part 4: The Final Word
The wedding was not just a successful event; it was a celebration of two families coming together, filled with joy, laughter, and appreciation for the beautiful moments we had collectively created.
Priyanka herself noted, "Poonam is exceptional at planning and decor. She was always enthusiastic, met us multiple times and assured us that it would be a great show! Our event was definitely a great success and we explored some really unique ideas together."
For us, this is the ultimate reward. It's about taking the essence of a couple's story, exploring new and creative ideas, and delivering a day that feels like a dream come true. Priyanka and Kartik's wedding was a testament to the fact that when passion, creativity, and a great team come together, a beautiful vision can indeed be turned into a magnificent reality.
